The steps to knowledge Hills Electrical & Mechanical has completed the electrical installation for the London School of Economics and Political Science's (LSE) newly refurbished and extended library building. The £3.1 million contract involved the installation of all lighting, power, fire alarms, security and pa systems. Hills worked direct to LSE on the contract, which was run for the client by management contractor Bovis Lend Lease. Schal acted as project manager.

Flying high Crown House Engineering is providing m&e and public health services for a two floor extension at Gatwick Airport's North International Departure area. The £5 million contract includes a scene-setting lighting system that is intended to light the area according to the season and time of day. This is based on a 40-metre long tube, with seven projectors reflecting the colour combinations onto the surrounding surfaces. The company is also installing the services for 20 new check-in desks and a baggage hall in the South Terminal as part of a £2 million contract. A further £5 million contract involves the provision of building services in a new South Terminals Arrivals building.
